(click to see larger) The Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site's Online Visitor Information Center presents this site on King's life and accomplishments. You can also learn about important places from King's life. "Thanks to the 'magic' of the internet it is possible to visit Dr. King's boyhood home, spiritual home and his final home without ever stepping foot in Atlanta," says the site. Under Resources, you can access some of King's speeches plus some court rulings and amendments to the Constitution that are related to civil rights. The site even has an interesting pop-up window that tells you what happened on this day in Dr. King's life.

Main sections are History, Philosophy, King Holiday, Community, New, and Shop. Under History, you will find biographies, chronologies, bibliographies, and photo albums for both King and his wife, Coretta Scott King. The Holiday area provides events listings and a history of Martin Luther King Day.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers Project at Stanford University

Organized into sections Papers, Speeches, Sermons, Autobiography, Biography, Chronology, and Articles, some of the materials are presented for free online; links lead you to places where you can buy the full works. The Links section provides excellent sites for further research. This is a fine place to find the very many poignant speeches given by King; some of them are put in the context of current events, such as the tragedy in America in September of 2001.
